——《嵩高峻极听流泉》文化丛书再版序言

文化是缘,文化是力,文化是根。
Culture is a bond,a force,and a foundational root.
我和张国臣先生同毕业于河南大学文学院。2024年3月,在我80岁生日之际,国臣先生精心制作了一幅寿联配图发我:“读史记面壁破壁求是固本,扬精神教书著书明德新民”。并附言说,“您在央视讲读《史记》,总结出人生前进的‘四行’定律,是中国历史传统文化的真谛。当代青年要学习借鉴,固本创新,砥砺奋进。”我即回信答曰:“那是一位教书人的读书体会,也是有些社会阅历后的一点体悟,讲到《秦始皇》之中了”。9月,中秋节,我惊喜地收到河南大学出版社出版的张国臣、张小羽合著的《嵩高峻极听流泉》文化丛书,有“诗词、散文、演讲”3卷6册,书中“诗、书、画、印、文”并茂,中英文互补,还有我们庆贺河南大学文学院百岁的合影,真是内容丰富,诗意千秋,百花争艳,引人入胜,我不由自主、情不自禁地研读起来……
Both Professor Zhang Guochen and I are graduates of the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Henan University.In March2024,as I celebrated my80th birthday,he composed a couplet for me:“StudyingRecords of the Grand Historiandeeply,seeking truth and laying a solid foundation; promoting virtue through teaching and writing,renewing the spirit and guiding the young.”Along with the couplet,he included a note:“Your lectures onRecords of the Grand Historianbroadcast on CCTV distill the‘Four Essential Conditions’crucial for personal success and truly capture the essence of traditional Chinese culture.Today’s youth should learn from them,laying a strong foundation while embracing innovation.”I responded, “Those were merely reflections from my readings and insights shared during my lectures on the first Emperor of Qin.”Later,during the Mid-Autumn Festival in September,I was pleased to receiveMount Song:Tranquility of Peaks and Springs(Sónggāo JùnjíTīng Liúquán),co-authored by him and Zhang Xiaoyu and published by Henan University Press.This three-volume series comprises six books covering poetry,prose,speeches,calligraphy,paintings,and seals.It also features a photo of us celebrating the centenary of our school.The content is profound, poetic,and captivating,immersing me in its beauty.

第一,格局宏大,诗画嵩岳。
Broad Vision
何为格局?格局即一个人的眼光、胸襟、胆识等心理要素的内在布局。要奔赴星辰大海,就不能总盯着小草;于高山之巅,更觉长风浩荡。新时代需要这样的志气,我们也应有这样的志气。格局决定结局,作学问、写论文、著新作,莫不如此。
What is vision?Vision refers to the inner layout of one’s perspective,open-mindedness,courage,and other psychological qualities.To reach for the stars and the sea,one must not be distracted by trivial matters.When standing at the top of a mountain,one can feel the powerful winds and gain a broader outlook on life.In this new age,we need to develop this mindset.Vision determines our success in academics, writing,and creative endeavors.
首先,该丛书的选题高。“嵩高峻极听流泉”,何等响亮的书名!这是作者的学术理想,也是自己人生坐标的定位,更是丛书的诗意远方。中岳嵩山,华夏圣山。中国第一部诗歌总集《诗经·大雅》中曰:“崧高维岳,骏极于天。维岳降神,生甫及申。”何其高也,何其大也!作者站在嵩山的最高峰峻极峰上,放眼远眺,气象万千,聆听那中华圣山潺潺流动的清泉流水,是何等美妙的情景格局!
To begin with,this series features a profound theme.Its captivating title,Mount Song:Tranquility of Peaks and Springs,embodies the author’s academic ideals,life philosophy, and poetic vision.Revered as the Central Great Mountain,Mount Song holds a sacred place in Chinese culture.As expressed in theBook of Poetry(Shijing), “Only Mount Song can be called great;no peak is higher beneath the heavens,” highlighting its magnificence.From Junji peak,the highest point,unfold sweeping views with a sacred spring flows gently below—this breathtaking scene reflects the authors’vision.
其次,该丛书的布局妙。出版嵩山文化大型丛书,是作者对嵩山文化学科丰富内容的系列展现,是作者胸有成竹的精心布局设计,是作者对学业百炼钢化为绕指柔的科学规划。
Second,the framework of this series is truly remarkable,reflecting the authors’extensive academic research through a thorough exploration of Mount Song culture and showcasing meticulous planning with an adaptive approach to inquiry.
君不见,张国臣生于嵩山,热爱嵩山,1977年以登封“文科状元”考入河南大学,读中文本科时即研究嵩山文化,发文出书,长年笔耕不辍,苦苦创立了“嵩山文化学科”;1999年出版了《中国少林文化学》,获首届中国民间文艺山花奖·学术著作优秀奖;2004年,他应邀撰写10集《嵩山》文学脚本,中央电视台拍摄连播,推进嵩山文化走向世界;2010年8月1日,当听到联合国第34届世界文化遗产大会在巴西高票通过,登封“天地之中”历史建筑群8处11项成为世界文化遗产,即挥笔写诗祝贺,“朝日巴西红世界,天地之中定登封”。这岂不是“宇宙一万小时定律”的又一学术佐证吗?
Prof.Zhang Guochen,born in Dengfeng county,has always felt a deep connection to Mount Song.In1977,he entered Henan University as the top scorer in humanities of Dengfeng.During his undergraduate studies,he began exploring Mount Song culture.Over the years,he published numerous articles and books,making foundational contributions to the establishment of the discipline of Mount Song Cultural Studies.In1999,he releasedShaolin Culture Studies,which received the1st China Folk Art Shanhua Award for Academic Works.In2004,he was invited to write the scripts forMount Song,a CCTV10-episode series that globally showcased Mount Song culture.On August1,2010,upon hearing that the United Nations World Heritage Committee had officially included the Historic Monuments of Dengfeng in“The Center of Heaven and Earth,”he penned a celebratory poem expressing his pride.His achievements serve as a testament to the“Ten Thousand Hours Theory,”which posits that one must dedicate at least 10,000hours of study and practice in a field to become an expert.
该丛书立足世界文化遗产之高度,以登封“天地之中”历史建筑群为主线,以文章体裁形式分卷,把“诗词”“散文”“演讲”三卷并列,诗化嵩山,从不同角度聆听“天地之中”发出的世界文化遗产清新泉水的叮咚之声。
This series focuses on the historic buildings included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List and is divided into three volumes:poetry,prose,and speeches.Each volume offers a unique perspective on Mount Song,akin to the soothing rhythm of a clear spring.
其三,该丛书的视觉新。当今世界,网络时代的到来,需要学者与时俱进,开拓创新,树立正确的人生观、世界观、价值观,调整心态,登高望远,以全方位视觉和多种学科复合的新方法,做出立体的丰富多彩的大学问。该丛书是一个多学科理论创新和实践创新紧密结合的成功杰作。
Third,the innovation of this series is impressive.In today’s digital age,scholars are encouraged to embrace new ideas and develop a well-rounded perspective on life,the world, and values.By expanding their perspectives and embracing interdisciplinary approaches,they can produce diverse works.This series exemplifies the successful integration of theoretical innovation with practical application across various disciplines.
一是博学多才。知识技能是建立文化大厦的内力。作者既是嵩山学者诗人,又是散文评论作家,还是高级记者摄影家,所以,丛书内容丰富,将中岳嵩山的天文、地质、宗教、哲学、武术、医药、艺术、建筑、历史等学科统筹协调为一体,以多种艺术手法,建成了一座世界文化遗产美丽大厦。
The authors’extensive knowledge and diverse talents form the backbone of this series.As essayists,critics,journalists,and photographers,they integrate a wide range of disciplines into a rich exploration of Mount Song’s cultural heritage,including astronomy,geology, religion,philosophy,martial arts,medicine,art,architecture,and history. 二是平台高雅。合适的平台是建设文化大厦的前提。张国臣、张小羽都是大学教授,带硕士研究生,所以,丛书内容哲理深邃,诗词中再现嵩山的悠久历史,散文中蕴含嵩山的和谐包容哲学,演讲中体现嵩山文化的豪气精髓,提升了传道授业解惑的文化高度。

何为豪放?豪放是指气度雄浑、毫无拘束,充满活力和激情的状态或风格。一个豪放的诗人,通常心胸开阔,充满自信,举止大方,不畏艰难,展现出一种无所畏惧的勇气,追求自由和真实。中国诗歌史上的豪放派代表人物是李白、苏轼、辛弃疾等,其特点是题材广泛,内容丰富,表现方法以铺叙直抒为主,风格是吞吐八荒,思接千古,大气磅礴。国臣先生学习古诗,敬慕先贤,在中岳嵩山文化中,和大家诗、步名作韵,写下了《春归嵩山·步李白韵》《望少室用杜甫韵》《游嵩阳书院步白居易韵》《念奴娇·少林怀古》《钗头凤·人生感怀》等佳作,视野广阔,纵横捭阖,气象恢弘,雄放旷达,语词宏博,用典娴熟,被许多诗词名家鉴赏,称颂之“立意高远,朴素豪放”“大奔放、大气象!”“天意君已会,人间有好诗”。

Epic poetry,a traditional literary form,not only chronicles significant historical events but also reflects the cultural values and worldview of its time.From Du Fu,who resided near Bijia Mountain on the northern slopes of Mount Song,to Bai Juyi,who lived along the banks of Yiluo River,and extending to today’s brilliant poets,the belief that“poetry expresses aspirations”and“writing conveys truth”has profoundly influenced their work.Through grand epics and concise verses,these poems have preserved cultural traditions and historical memories, focusing on heroes and pivotal moments while inspiring future generations with the courage and determination drawn from the past.
国臣先生的《初祖达摩》《普京访少林寺》《鹊桥仙·大禹》《水调歌头·登封》《登封首届世界传统武术节迎宾式》《浣溪沙·刘宝山拳师》《浣溪沙·梁以全拳师》《沁园春·百年河大》等诗作,不但记述了嵩岳地区重大的文化历史事件,而且传达了中原诸多英勇、正义和忠诚的英雄壮举,其不仅是嵩岳辉煌历史的真实记录,也是对中华民族优秀精神的弘扬光大。

何为求是?“求是”者,指探究自然、社会和人本身运动(活动)的奥秘、规律,更指追求真理的科学态度、科学精神。诗词的求是平台表现就是哲理诗,是表现诗人的哲学观点、反映哲学道理的诗。这种诗内容深沉浑厚、含蓄、隽永,多将哲学的抽象哲理蕴含于鲜明的艺术形象之中。国臣先生幼时即酷爱唐诗宋词,曾手抄《唐诗三百首》,勤于吟诵;高校深研,又得河南大学名师教诲,点石成金。
“Seeking truth”refers to the exploration of the principles and laws governing nature,society,and human existence,embodying a scientific attitude in the pursuit of truth.In poetry, this quest manifests through philosophical verse that blends abstract concepts with vivid imagery.From a young age,Zhang Guochen cultivated a deep passion for Tang and Song poetry.He transcribed theThree Hundred Poems of Tang Dynastyand frequently recited many well-known works.His studies at Henan University,under the guidance of esteemed professors,further refined his natural talent.
我们打开《诗词卷》,从诗词专家的鉴评中,可见篇篇短诗精悍,哲理深邃,“大珠小珠落玉盘”,有的已成为新的格言。如《沁园春·嵩山》,上片写实,嵩山“儒佛道,结亲朋代代,千古良缘”,阐述嵩山文化“三教荟萃、包容和谐,持续发展”的哲理;下片写意,以“歌新曲,更与时俱进,再造河山”收笔,点出事物“只有与时俱进、开拓创新,才能发展”的哲理定律,把词之意旨推向了高潮。该词被名家书写,刻石太室山广场,成为游人文化打卡的热点。
In the Poetry volume of this series,literary experts note that Zhang Guochen’s poems are concise and impactful,rich in philosophical depth,and memorable,akin to“big pearls and small pearls falling onto a jade plate.”A notable example is his poem“Mount Song to the tune of Chinyuanchun.”The first stanza realistically portrays how “Confucianism,Buddhism,and Taoism coexist on Mount Song,”reflecting the region’s cultural essence of harmony,inclusivity,and sustainable development. The second stanza takes an evocative turn,concluding with the lines,“Sing new songs and progress with the times”emphasizing that true progress comes from innovation and adaptation.This poem has been inscribed by esteemed calligraphers at Taishi Mountain Plaza,becoming a popular cultural spot for visitors.
再如《留余》诗,写嵩山北麓33代兴盛不衰的康家“留余”家训,总结出其家族为什么400多年蒸蒸日上的缘由规律,“四方和谐乐吃亏,失中有得百业兴”。此诗以哲理指导人生,引名家争相书写,成为著名的家教格言传颂。
Prof.Zhang Guochen’s poem “Leave Room”is equally noteworthy,reflecting the family motto of the Kang family,who have thrived for33generations at the northern foot of Mount Song. The poem reveals their secret to success:“Harmony comes from sacrifice;only through loss can there be gain.”This profound wisdom has become a renowned family motto,celebrated and passed down through generations.
再如,壬寅春节,为防范新冠病毒疫情,国臣先生回到家乡嵩山笔耕,重读名著《三国演义》,顿悟人生,挥笔填词《临江仙·嵩读三国》:“仰止嵩高峰峻极,古今多少英雄。名攻利夺一场空。江河归大海,唯见日升东。采撷菖蒲看李白,妙吟冬雪春风。轮回生灭善终丰。水能滋万物,德可胜弯弓。”生动的意象,寓理于形象之中。那“水能滋万物,德可胜弯弓”词眼,道出了宇宙定律,成为传世警句,岂不为人间智者醒悟乎?
During the2022Spring Festival,amid the COVID-19pandemic,Zhang Guochen returned to his hometown. While re-readingRomance of the Three Kingdoms,he gained profound insights into life and composed the poem“ReadingRomance of Three Kingdomsat Mount Song to the tune of Linjiangxian”:“Gazing up at Junji peak,how many heroes have risen and fallen.Fame and fortune are fleeting.Rivers flow to the sea,yet the sun always rises in the east.Like Li Bai,I turn away from fame. Life and death are part of nature.Water nourishes all things;virtue conquers might.” This poem artfully blends vivid imagery with deep philosophical reflections. Its final line encapsulates a universal truth,serving as a timeless aphorism that invites contemplation.

第三,散文深邃,人文自然
Profound prose
散文是一种抒发作者真情实感、写作方式灵活的记叙类文学体裁。中国的散文写作与时代同步,在千年历史中不断创新发展。《嵩高峻极听流泉》文化丛书的《散文卷》,以文化人,深邃厚重。作者把自己对生活的感悟,对事物的特殊意义和美质的发现认识,对繁杂至深的文化生活经验,通过状物、记人、写景等方式表达出来,具有三大突出的创新特点。
Prose is a literary form that conveys the author’s genuine emotions in a narrative style.Chinese prose has evolved alongside historical changes,constantly innovating throughout its long history.The Prose volume of this series offers the authors’reflections on life and culture,revealing meaning and beauty through vivid portrayals of nature,experiences,and characters.
首先,讲究质料,意境深邃。文以载道,写文章的目的是为了说明道理。哲理是散文的灵魂,再短小的散文,也要有深刻的、新颖的思想,也要有对生活的体验、思索与评价,让读者有所发现、有所启迪、有所惊喜。而要使散文达到此目的,就要选好文章的优质材料。“质料”,是构成全篇散文的个别字或词的品质。这种品质几乎在先天就决定了一篇散文的趣味甚至境界的高低。国臣先生深谙此道,认为文字的触觉有细腻和粗俗之分。一件制成品,无论做工多细,如果质地低劣,就不值钱。他在《散文卷》的首篇《嵩山密码》中,即精选字词,以“神奇”“古奥”“融合”“雄隽”称颂中岳嵩山。隽者,优秀、才华横溢之人也。如此把嵩山拟人化,更生动形象、更引人入胜、更使散文的意境深邃。
First and foremost,its quality of language and depth of thought are paramount.Writing should convey philosophical principles and reveal truths.Even a brief essay must express profound ideas rooted in the author’s experiences and reflections,providing readers with insights and surprises.The choice of words is crucial to the impact of the essay.Prof.Zhang Guochen is well aware of this,understanding that refined diction enhances a work,while poor word choice detracts from its effectiveness.In the first essay“The Mount Song Code”of the Prose volume, he employs words such as“mysterious,” “ancient,”“fusion,”and“majestic”to describe Mount Song.The term “majestic,”typically used to describe exceptional individuals,conveys grandeur and enriches the description of Mount Song,making it more vivid and engaging.
例如,在《融合的嵩山》中,作者认为,“嵩山是一部中国思想文化发展史的缩影,在嵩山之南不到7公里的范围内,儒、佛、道‘三教荟萃’,相互交融,成为中国传统文化的缩影和特形,反映着中原地区宗教发展的历程,华夏民族包容万物的胸怀和世界文化碰撞融合的印迹。”此语由表及里,由浅入深,表述的思想何等深邃!
Another example is the prose “Syncretic Mount Song”,which states,“Mount Song is a microcosm of the development of Chinese philosophical and cultural thought.Within a7-kilometer radius to the south of Mount Song,Confucianism,Buddhism,and Taoism converge, forming a unique representation of traditional Chinese culture.This integration reflects the evolution of religion in the Central Plains and exemplifies the inclusive spirit of Chinese civilization.”Their opinion is profound,uncovering the cultural essence.
再如,作者精选“优质材料”,详细记述并形象描绘了少林寺《混元三教九流图赞碑》,以“镇寺三宝”之一的独特意境,借助想象与联想,由此及彼,由浅入深,由实而虚地依次写来,融情于景、寄情于事、寓情于物、托物言志,证明嵩山“包容和谐”哲学理念的独特和伟大,表达了自己的真情实感,实现物我的统一,展现出更深远的思想,使读者深入领会嵩山少林文化更深邃的哲学道理。
In describing the stele of the Shaolin Temple, one of the“Three Treasures of the Temple,”the authors skillfully transition from concrete details to abstract concepts,blending emotion with scenery.This approach reflects the inclusive and harmonious spirit of Mount Song by expressing their genuine feelings and achieving unity between the object and the subject.Ultimately,it invites readers to contemplate the philosophical truths of Shaolin culture.

其次,讲究弹性,形散神聚。古今优秀散文,以“形散神聚”为主要特征。“形散”者,指题材广泛、写法多样,结构自由,不拘一格;“神聚”者,既指中心集中,又指贯穿全文的线索目标一致,要求表达的主题必须明确而集中。
Additionally,its flexibility is prominent.Both ancient and modern prose exemplify the principle of “scattered form and unified spirit.”“Scattered form”refers to a wide range of topics and diverse writing styles,characterized by a free and unconventional structure.In contrast,“unified spirit”emphasizes a focused central theme, ensuring that a consistent thread runs throughout the entire work.
该丛书的《散文卷》,一是突出了“神聚”。无论所写的内容多么广泛,表现的手法多么灵活,但皆为更好地表达主题服务。无论是宏观的设计,《嵩山密码》《诗化嵩山》《嵩山笔记》《嵩山飞鸿》《感恩嵩山》,还是中观的布局,《嵩山地质天下奥》《东瀛禅源结少林》《中岳<庙会图>商品经济发展的备忘录》,以及微观的描写,都贯穿着一条嵩山厚重文化的红线,突出着世界文化遗产登封“天地之中”的人文主题。

其一,理念创新。时代发展呯唤创新。理念创新是在原有理念的基础上,通过创新思维、创新方法、创新手段,创造出新的理念、新的思想、新的观念的过程。我们从作者2019年在河南大学《试论中国少林武术文化的哲学理念、渊源、特点等问题》的演讲中,可见开拓创新、与时俱进理念的践行,可以从少林禅宗祖庭的发展故事中看到比风水厉害100倍的宇宙定律——“因果定律”,可以得出禅宗理念的创立表现是“善爱和谐”,可以看到“善爱和谐”理念在少林武术实践中的风格体现是“刚柔相济”,可以得出少林武术文化必须顺应时代发展,创新提高,进一步为大众健身服务的结论。

一是思想上倡导善恶报应。纵观佛、儒、道及其他宗教文化,都是倡导善有善报,恶有恶报,不是不报,时候不到,时候一到,必定全报,都是教人多行善缘,自行修悟的,至今亦不超外。女皇武则天在嵩山峻极峰投下“祈求上苍赦罪金简”,为万民祈福,发展了嵩山善仁文化;嵩山的老百姓也仁孝有加,百岁老人众多,民风淳朴,社会和谐。
The first principle is the moral law of retribution:good will be rewarded while evil is punished.This belief,prevalent in Buddhism,Confucianism and Taoism,teaches that retribution may not happen immediately but will inevitably arrive in due time. Empress Wu Zetian’s casting of a gold strip seeking forgiveness from the Junji peak of Mount Song has fostered a culture of kindness and compassion in the region. The local people are characterized by their strong sense of filial piety and longevity,contributing to a harmonious society.
二是方法上务实创新。百句空谈不如一个实干。务实创新就要立足实际,遵循规律,运用科学的方法,强化职责使命,主动作为,敢于担当。创新是一个民族进步的灵魂,是事业兴盛发展的不竭动力。纵观嵩山佛、儒、道文化发展,要适应社会的进步,满足人民群众日益增长的物质文化需要,就必须对旧的、不适应人民群众生活需求的文化弊端进行改革,在改革中创新。嵩山文化中的建筑、绘画、医药、武术等持续发展,莫不如此!
The second principle emphasizes pragmatic innovation.Actions speak louder than words.Achieving real innovation requires us to stay grounded in reality,adhere to established principles,and utilize scientific methods.This pragmatic approach not only strengthens our responsibilities but also propels societal progress.At Mount Song,the continuous development of architecture,painting,medicine,and wushu is rooted in this commitment to practical innovation.
三是轨迹上皆为波浪式前进。任何事物的发展都不可能一帆风顺,都是在曲折中奋斗前进的。人生亦是如此。
The third principle is progress often unfolds in spirals.The journey of any endeavor is seldom straightforward;it is marked by challenges and setbacks.This pattern holds true in life as well.
四是趋势上都是文化开放、发展经济。古代的中印文化交流,形成了中国佛教禅宗。改革开放后,中国通过与日本、美国及世界其他国家的文化交流,不但宣传了自己,而且提高了自己。世界经济一体化,以文化兴旅游,以旅游促经济,经济又推动文化的发展,是世界文化经济可持续发展的大趋势。作者举例说,一件文物,封之室中,就会成为“包袱”;发展旅游,引人观赏,就会使文物成为财富。旅游架起了文化与经济互相推动发展的宝贵桥梁,成为经济社会发展的新兴“无烟工厂”。

王立群,中国著名文化学者,古代文学、古典文献学研究专家,享受国务院政府津贴专家,中央电视台《百家讲坛》历史文化系列节目主讲人,中国《文选》学会原副会长,河南大学文学院教授、博士生导师,第四届“全国高等学校教学名师”。
WANG Liqun(Chinese:王立群)is a distinguished Chinese historian,professor,and doctoral supervisor specializing in classical Chinese literature at Henan University,as well as the former vice-president of Wenxuan Association(affiliated with the Ministry of Education).He is recognized as an expert with special allowance from the State Council and was awarded the title of“National Famous Teacher”in2008.He was known for his exceptional lectures on“Lecture Room,”a television program broadcast on China Central Television.
